Francesca Garbi, soprano, born in Cremona, studied at the Conservatory of Parma and later graduated from the School of Perfection of the Teatro alla Scala in Milan.
She made her debut at the Teatro del Casinò in Sanremo with Giuseppe Verdi's "La battaglia di Legnano," then performed at the Teatro Sociale in Mantua, the Teatro Sociale in Como, and the Teatro Eliseo in Rome in a live broadcast for Rai. She sang the role of Giovanna in Giuseppe Verdi's "Giovanna D’Arco" at the Teatro Sperimentale in Alessandria, and later in Jacques Offenbach's "I Racconti di Hoffmann" at the Teatro Ponchielli in Cremona, where she was also entrusted with the leading role in "I Lituani" by Amilcare Ponchielli, an interpretation that was positively noted by the national critics.
After these successes, she performed as Giselda in "I Lombardi alla prima crociata" as part of the Verdi celebrations in Busseto. Maestro Riccardo Muti wanted her in the role of Anna in Giuseppe Verdi's "Nabucco" and Maestro Lorin Maazel in the role of the Priestess in Giuseppe Verdi's "Aida" at the Teatro alla Scala.
She was the protagonist in Dimitrij Shostakovich's "Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk" at the Teatro G. Verdi in Trieste, where the following year she debuted in the role of Aida in Giuseppe Verdi's "Aida." Subsequently, always with "Aida," she opened the season at the Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari, ...
which is followed by another Verdian role: Amelia/Maria in “Simon Boccanegra”, at the Teatro sociale in Mantua and at the Teatro di Vercelli.
Under the direction of Maestro Gustav Kuhn, she debuted at the Sferisterio in Macerata again in “Aida”. Later, in addition to several productions of “Aida” in Italy and abroad (Lecce, Piacenza, Ankara, Lubiana), she debuted in the role of “Suor Angelica” by Giacomo Puccini in a production that touched important Theatres in Lombardy such as the Teatro Grande in Brescia, the Teatro Donizetti in Bergamo, and the Teatro Ponchielli in Cremona.
She debuted at the Teatro del Giglio in Lucca as Giorgetta in “Il Tabarro” by Giacomo Puccini.
She was the protagonist of Giuseppe Verdi's “Requiem Mass” for the Teatro in Genoa, of “Un ballo in maschera” by Giuseppe Verdi at the Teatro Magnani in Fidenza, and was chosen for “Andrea Chenier” by Umberto Giordano, at the Teatro Sociale in Como.
With the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, she performed Gioacchino Rossini's “La petite Messe solennelle”.
She sang the role of Lady Macbeth in Giuseppe Verdi's “Macbeth” at the Teatro de La Coruña and was Elena in Arrigo Boito's “Mefistofele” under the direction of Helmuth Rilling, performed in concert form in Stuttgart and at the Philharmonie in Cologne.
She also performed at the Liederhalle in Stuttgart and carried out concert activities in Germany.
