Two important appointments, dedicated to Mendelssohn on the 175th anniversary of his death and to Lorenzo Perosi on the 150th anniversary of his birth, await the INSUBRIA CHAMBER ORCHESTRA conducted by Giorgio Rodolfo Marini with the participation of the pianist Carlo Levi Minzi : the Concert for the Perosi 2022 Festival on Sunday 12 June at 18.00 in Tortona at the Cloister of the Diocesan Museum and the Concert for Musical Evenings on Monday 13 June at 20.45 at the Sala Verdi of the Milan Conservatory.
The program includes the Symphony for strings n.10 and the Concerto for piano and strings by Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy (1809-1847) and the Quartet n.2 by Lorenzo Perosi (1872-1956) in the transcription for strings by Adriana Azzaretti.
If the two pieces of Mendelssohn songs were written by a barely adolescent composer who already brought to mind the genius of Mozart, and who like Mozart would have lived a life that was too short even if glorious, Perosi's piece belongs to the mature period of the Italian composer, still too little known but author of innumerable quantities of both sacred and profane Works; the transcription for strings of the Quartet n.2, of which the Insubria Chamber Orchestra is entrusted for the first absolute performance for the occasion, as well as last year for the transcription of the Quartet n.12, contributes to "an operation of enhancement and dissemination of Perosi's compositional heritage through the exploitation of the splendid potential of a formation such as the string orchestra which embellishes and amplifies all the resources of the original writing "
