Dream Milk has been an amazing journey

This time it really exceeded expectations, even though they were already quite high as I wrote in my previous article last March.

This time it really exceeded expectations, even though they were already quite high as I wrote in my previous article last March.

Cecilia Alemani, Artistic Director of the 59th Biennale Arte 2022 in Venice, was really good and with her the many women artists who collaborated and exhibited their works.

It seems that the presence of women for this event exceeded 90% and it must be admitted that the difference can be seen!

Alemani says this: “The Milk of Dreams exhibition takes its title from a book of fairy tales by Leonora Carrington (1917-2011), in which the surrealist artist describes a magical world in which life is constantly reinvented through the prism of imagination and in which it is allowed to change, transform, become other than oneself. It is a free universe full of infinite possibilities, but it is also the allegory of a century which imposes an intolerable pressure on identity, forcing Carrington to live as an exile, locked up in psychiatric hospitals, a perennial object of fascination and desire but also a figure of rare strength and mystery, always on the run from the constraints of a fixed and coherent identity. To those who asked her when she was born, Carrington replied that she was generated by the encounter between her mother and a machine, in a bizarre communion of human, animal and mechanical that distinguishes many of her works.

The Milk of Dreams exhibition chooses Carrington's fantastic creatures, together with other figures of transformation, as companions on an imaginary journey through the metamorphoses of bodies and definitions of the human."

Both the theme and its interpretation are so magical that there is no need to reveal anything else here except to invite all art enthusiasts and even those who are just curious not to miss this beautiful opportunity that bestows strong emotions (sometimes even disconcerting), deep reflections and so much beauty.

The city of Venice also hosts countless other small exhibitions related to the Biennale that see participation from different nations.

It goes without saying that the places in the city that welcome these side events are already enchanting in themselves and it is extraordinary to see how it is not necessary to engage in research but it is enough to wander through the calli to find yourself entangled in some installation or exhibition or even just sculptures that enchant !

In short, we are lucky enough to breathe Art everywhere, thanks again my sweet Venice!
