It was truly a great surprise to discover another treasure in Venice.
We are on the Giudecca, an island still preserved from mass tourism and where you can breathe art that is different from the institutional one that usually attracts the "hit and run" tourist.
Here local life and everyday life still retain an authentic dimension full of flavour. It is in this context, crossing the interior of the island that we landed at Villa Hériot , home of the UIA (International University of Art).
The charm of the villa immediately overwhelmed us and the kindness and availability of the staff who welcomed us allowed us to visit the rooms and meet the students who were working on the restoration course.
The beauty of the environment and of this villa close to the sea in a well-kept and prestigious green area releases an authentic energy that inevitably leads to savoring the pleasure and respect for the Beauty that here seems to survive above everything .
Young students from different places in the world and in Italy undertake this three-year course to acquire the title of " Technician for the Restoration of Cultural Heritage ", a professional figure with a high degree of scientific skills and ability to intervene operative who collaborates with the restorer in the field of restoration and conservation of works of art .
The training course is developed as follows:
– restoration of the polychrome wooden sculpture ( 1st year )
– conservation of stone materials ( 2nd year )
– conservation of the decorated surfaces of the architecture ( 3rd year )
What can we add other than thanks to Lisa Pierantoni for her hospitality and availability and to invite all people who love art and the conservation of our heritage to visit this place that is as hidden as it is unique.
